- What Is The Purpose to Life Called out Body of Christ 16:01
Why did God create you in His “image”? An “image” or likeness of something is meant to praise or glorify it! When God created you in His image and likeness, He desired that you would willingly choose to obey Him that God might give you eternal life with Him!
“But as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation.” 1 Peter 1:15
God daily fellowshipped with Adam whom He created perfect, until Adam disobeyed Him! If Adam would have obeyed God, he would have lived forever! Sin in your life causes division between you and God. As long as you live in disobedience, you cannot be rewarded by God with eternal life! This gives you a choice…to either praise God by obeying Him or blaspheme God’s name by disobeying God’s commandment to be holy! This is a daily “test” that God gives to every man, and it is the purpose for your life. God tests [searches the heart] and rewards man with eternal life according to his doings as Jeremiah 17:10 explains,
“I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.”
Daily God gives man the choice to love Him with all their heart, soul, and mind shown by his faithfulness to God…which glorifies Him as God revealed His desires in Deuteronomy 6:5,
“And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.”
This choice comes with rewards and penalties for although God desires that you serve Him willingly, God also punishes all sin that you commit against His holy commandments. A genuine love of God is shown by actions or in other words faith that can be seen as James 2:18 teaches us,
“Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.”
Those who love the LORD obey His voice and the gospel of Jesus Christ (how Jesus lived and what He taught) that you might know how to walk with Him and live. Obedience brings life and peace in your heart. The wages of sin is death; therefore, the reward of righteousness is eternal life.
“Keep My commandments, and live; and My law as the apple of thine eye.” Proverbs 7:2
As God outlined for you His law and sent Jesus to be the example of how to obey God for your benefit, He explains the choice He gives you in Deuteronomy 30:19-20,
“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death… therefore choose life… That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days.“
God does not change! As He commanded you to choose life through obedience to His law, He still today commands the same for your benefit. How can you think that sin is allowed in your life? Those who believe God’s law does not apply to them today are gravely mistaken since the very definition of sin or iniquity is the transgression (or breaking) of God’s law as outlined in I John 3:4,
“Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.”
Since we are in the flesh (we generally want to do wrong), we must strive to obey the Lord and seek His strength to overcome our bad habits called sin. Just because man cannot ‘perfectly’ keep God’s law (without some mistakes) is not a justification to disobey it! Remember God’s desire is that you strive with all your heart to obey God. Obedience to the gospel of Jesus Christ (what Jesus taught) brings peace and joy into the life of the faithful and also eternal life with God!
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1
The law is the outline of God’s righteousness or thinking which brings life when obeyed. Though man may not flawlessly keep God’s law (we are human and make mistakes), he must strive to obey it. The gospel of Jesus Christ teaches us how to obey God and live. You can only be delivered from your sins by the grace/mercy of God, which He showed to you by coming to earth to die in your place that you might live! When you seek to be forgiven for your sins and ask His forgiveness, He gives you of His Holy Spirit to empower you to live for Him. He desires that you love Him as He loves you!
“For as by one man’s disobedience (Adam in the garden) many were made sinners, so by the obedience of One (Jesus) shall many be made righteous.” Romans 5:19
God commanded you to be holy as He is holy, and God provided a way that you might “fulfil the law” with no condemnation. Paul explains this in Romans 8:3-4,
“For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
Those who walk in the Spirit (listening to the voice of God within you that tells you to obey Him) come to God seeking forgiveness in repentance [a change of heart that leads to a change of actions]. They continue to strive to keep God’s commandments, but receive God’s grace that they might be forgiven by Him. We are taught that you cannot continue in your sins in Romans 6:1-2,
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”
Those who come to God are His servants as they yield their entire lives to Him; therefore, they are “dead to sin” just as a dead man has no desires, you must strive joyfully to do right always! Paul explains in Romans 12:1 that our lives must be “dead” as living sacrifices to God because we daily yield all over to Him (seek to obey Him),
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”
This is your reasonable service or “the least you must do” for you are His “servant” and God now calls you His child. He is glorified in your complete surrender to Him! The sacrifice of daily putting to death the deeds of the flesh (not allowing yourself to do as you please that is wrong), daily denying yourself of the evil which you desire to do, daily humbling yourself to the acceptable will of God is the cross that Jesus commanded you to daily bear. This fulfils what Jesus teaches in Luke 9:23,
“And He said to them all, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”
This denial of sinful actions (attempt to stop sinning) daily transforms us by changing our thinking about how we look at every temporal thing of this world. Instead of conforming or basing our thinking on the thinking of this world, we are renewing our thinking to the thinking of God. This is explained in Romans 12:2,
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
As our thinking is transformed to the holy thinking of God (when we understand His love of doing right), we “prove” what is godly and pleasing to God, and is the Truth! It all starts with a desire to please God and to live eternally. As you pray, read His Word, fellowship with His people daily, and strive to live in obedience to Him, you begin to “live in the Spirit of God” that He has put within you taught in Galatians 5:24-25,
“And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”
The conviction (voice of God within you) of the Holy Spirit of God leads us as we yield and follow His “still small voice” within us, saying, “this is the way, walk ye in it”! This is the voice of God within leading you in love to follow His “acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” You will know that it is the acceptable and perfect will of God because it fulfils (obeys) the gospel. God’s voice [the Holy Spirit within] will never justify sin nor will it ever encourage you to do wrong for justification of sin is an abomination to God as Proverbs 17:15 teaches,
“He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.”
Holiness (victory over doing wrong) is the “proof” that you are truly following the LORD with all your heart, soul, and mind! What is your purpose to life? What are you seeking with all your heart, soul, and mind? Jesus taught this of those who follow Him and teach His gospel in Matthew 7:20,
“Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.”
Where are “all” of these who truly fulfil the purpose for which God created them? Are there few that be saved? How can you identify those who truly love the LORD with all their heart, soul, and mind? Jesus explains in Luke 13:23-24,
“Then said one unto Him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And He said unto them, {You} Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for MANY, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and SHALL NOT BE ABLE.”
Many have “religion” but don’t have God! Businesses called ‘churches’ [not for profit businesses) are stuffed with sincere people who follow money hungry sinful men who do not keep the commandments of God. They brag about not keeping the Sabbath; they bear false witness, lie, commit immorality, fornication, and are worse than the non religious “sinners”. Many will profess that they love Jesus, but they do not live as Christ or obey Him! Only those who walk in the Spirit or obey God will inherit eternal life! This is the purpose for which God created you…to give you an opportunity to choose eternal life! Please read with a humble heart the words of our LORD [Who will either one day be your loving Heavenly Father or your eternal Judge that condemns your sins] found in Matthew 7:21-23,
“Not every one that saith unto Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
They had religion but they didn’t have God, and their “sin that they love more than God that causes God to reject them even though on the outward they talk and appear to be religious. Religion was invented by man for walking with God is the very purpose of man’s creation. It is not a business that gathers money!
“He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God…” 1 John 3:8-10
This is the clear choice that God gives you. Will you love the LORD your God with ALL your heart, soul, and mind? Will you daily walk with Him yielding to His Holy Spirit that guides you daily? God makes it very clear who will inherit eternal life and WHO WILL NOT INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE AND LISTS OUT THE SINS THAT KEEP MAN FROM GOD in Galatians 5:19-24,
“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which DO SUCH THINGS shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”
The proof or fruit of those who will inherit eternal life is in their daily life of doing right or living and walking with God in love for they are the “church” or the “called out body of believers” who fellowship daily with others who love the LORD with all their heart, soul, and mind! These become your spiritual brothers and sisters through the love of Christ. These will lay down their lives for you that you might live for God and inherit eternal life! Jesus taught us this in John 15:13,
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
God becomes your loving heavenly Father and guides your life as a loving father would cherish his little one! Sometimes He may allow things that we don’t like to happen to get our attention and cause us to call out to Him for help, healing, and comfort.
“Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear Him.” Psalm 103:13
Just as you desire true love from someone and not forced or fake love, God desires that you truly love Him from the heart and show it by your obedient actions. He has created the world and has given you many choices to do as you please…or to love Him with all your heart…He will reward you with eternal life, if you continue in His love. Read Jesus’ Words in John 15:9-12,
“As the Father hath loved Me, so have I loved you: continue ye in My love. If ye keep My commandments, ye shall abide in My love; even as I have kept My Father’s commandments, and abide in His love. These things have I spoken unto you, that My joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. This is My commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.”
What is the purpose to life? That you might pass the loving test by God to see if you will willingly choose to live forever and inherit eternal life with Him by doing right daily according to His thinking of what is right and wrong, which He has given to us through the gospel of Jesus and our conscience. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28,
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
We pray that you will willingly choose to walk in the love of doing right that you might dwell forever with our Loving Heavenly Father. We will help you in any way we can to understand His Word. Choose Life!
Fulfill the purpose God created you for! – To Glorify Him!
